Memo To Business Owners Universities And Parents: Help Alleviate The Savings Crisis In This Country

Congress has been meeting to address a growing crisis in this country, the fact that Americans don?t save much money. According to the AARP only one in five baby boomers has more than $25,000 in assets. Only 40% of the people eligible to contribute to a 401k plan do so. With the recent headlines about the shakiness of Social Security this issue becomes even more important. Congress is considering a number of different measures: Increasing contributions to retirement plans, tax incentives, etc. All of this is great but there is one change that could be made right away that I think would make a huge difference.

Motivate Yourself By Doing What You Love

?Along with a strong belief in your own inner voice, you also need laser-like focus combined with unwavering determination.? -Larry Flynt

Are you restless in your current job position and hate going into work everyday? Do you have a nagging want to do something else or a particular goal to accomplish? Most psychologists believe that if individuals ignore their desires they will become points of increasing restlessness. They will go from being a want to a need and surface again and again.

If you have to work 40 or more hours a week, you should at least be doing something you enjoy.

Save Money On Your Clothing Budget Tame The Closet Monster!

When I decided to take control of my finances, reducing the clothing budget was a serious challenge for me. Two pre-teen girls and a teenage girl certainly didn?t make life any easier.

Children grow out of their clothing before we can get it home and hang it in the closet it seems. O.K., maybe that’s an exaggeration, but not by much! It’s just as likely that the item you bought today will not be worn next month due to fashion issues. Taking this into consideration, it just doesn’t make sense to throw away so much of our hard earned dollars on clothing expenses.

Making A Family Budget That You Can Stick With

Some people do a lot of compulsive buying. It may feel good now that the item has been purchased but this will all go away when the bill comes and there isn?t that much money left for savings.

Can anything be done to stop this from happening? The answer is yes. All the individual has to do is make a budget plan that everyone in the household will follow.

The objective of the family budget is to spend less than how much the individual is actually earning. This could be from the salaries of the spouses and any other investments such as stocks or properties being leased out which is income generating.

Action Plan For Healthy Credit

Your Credit Score is quite possibly one of the most valuable assets in today?s world. Without good credit you may find it hard to buy a home, get a car, find a job, get a telephone and many other necessities that we have come to need.

The problem lies when young adults, just out of high school are getting credit cards offered to them left and right without consideration. The credit card companies understand that most young adults have no idea what they may be getting in to. Everywhere you turn credit card offers and loan money is readily available from your mail box to every time you go to the mall. Almost every department store has some form of credit you may apply for.

More Money? My Cup Runneth Over…But I’m Still Thirsty

Most of us, especially those of us who have debtor?s disease (if you have it you know what it is!), have commented or at least thought, ?If I could just win the lottery, or sweepstakes, everything would be better.? Unfortunately, even if that big dream did come true things probably would get worse instead of better.

How To Save Money Without Feeling Deprived

With gas prices out of control, it is important to know that there are ways you can save money in other ways. You have probably have seen various tips on how to save money but I have a few that you may not have thought of.

Medication
Last November I discovered a way to save on the cost of my medications. This was great because I am on a number of medications and so the monthly expenses add up quickly. My insurance company offers a service in which you can order your prescriptions by mail. When purchasing your medications by mail you get three months at a time. If you order by mail you get three months of the prescription for the price of two. For instance if I had a prescription for Zoloft that costs $20 a month, I would only pay $40. That?s a great deal in my opinion.
